Assignment 2 - Space and Narrative

I chose an 18th century Dutch painting, "Couple with a Parrot", by Pieter de Hooch. After thinking of a number of narratives I decided to look at the sexual side of the painting - the releasing of a bird from its cage and the ambient lighting over the well acquainted couple. At the same time I thought about the distinction and separation of the servants quarters in the foreground and the well lit rooms occupied by the couple.
