Development of UT - DRAFT

The pathway to the meeting space (where one lift will arrive) creates tension through the staggering of the floor.

It is evident that the bridge (Zhang Yin's space) needs much further development, but is coming together..

This is part of the main meeting space for both clients.

This is another room for Zhang Yin.. again the box like lights represent her recycling.

Elevator Ideas

The drawings for Zhang Yin(topdrawing) relate structure to box like shapes-Zhang's wealth making object.. Possibly texture with paper like texture? - recycling materials into her own space.

Donatella Versace:(lower) circular enclosure = continuity. Curves = delicacy, attention to detail - Front designs on faces. Entering such spaces would be like entering one of Versace's designs.

Elevators

I was looking at a product and information folder from the company Thyssen Aufzuge.

They have been creating lifts without machine rooms, which in turn creates more space. They are gearless, have economic advantages and speeds up to 1.6m/s. The company aims to have aesthetic diversity with maximum possible functionalism.

For Thyssen Aufzuge, transparency is the "credo of modern architecture". Not only does transparency create aesthetics, but also creates a feeling of space. They allow a panoramic view of your surroundings. Light is also an important design factor.

Two point perspectives

Images

Oops.. here are the images of my environment..

Unreal Environment

This is my Unreal map so far ..(see post above!!) It needs lots of development as there is currently really only one major space.. I am partly struggling with the concept of the bridge, but am slowly working through that.. This space is based mainly on a two point perspective which will be scanned in extremely soon..

I haven't had a chance to do a moving object yet.. If not tonight, tomorrow night!!

Mashup Article

In this time, men are still men, and women are under. We think we are even, but it's not true. In every sector of society, that's true. Most of the world's richest women inherited their wealth. Versace, entertaining hollywood royalty and running her brother's namesake empire. But not Zhang, she took a step up from life in Hong Kong, the daughter of a military officer with inimitable flair. But don't let the black mock turtleneck and denim trousers fool you, he is revered by tech and design geeks designing 10 collections a year.

Controlled by an army of handlers, he is a college dropout, a fashion diva who moved to China to experiment with capitalism. I gave a softer touch, made them more wearable, recycled generation after generation. The cycle starts all over again, severe cost cutting, looking for spiritual enlightenment, taking on entrenched megaliths, a mighty fine Queen of Trash with heaps of diamonds.

Problem

There was one problem in the final map.. In Stephen Hawking's space, part of the side rail of the ramp would not appear.. Although the change in the rail is interesting, be careful when walking around not to fall off!! I haven't yet! :-)

Shots of Final map

A longer view of meeting space and Stephen Hawking's lower level lab..
Jane Goodall's lab, and open area for movement and allowing for her primate friends, the cubes on the wall showing constant change in human mindset and action for nature..

The meeting space questions notions of unity and explores the differences in ideas of the two clients through the archway. This is another part of the meeting space, but more enclosed, evident of more connection and unity.
The following image depicts Stephen Hawking's lab space hanging by delicate cables, relating to ideas about the universe and its limitations and existence..

Inspiration

These are the axonometric drawings that my final map is based on, different to the first trial.

Textures

Light texture:
Medium texture:

Dark Texture:

So far I have struggled a heap to upload my textures to my map.. I have downloaded the emustore tutorial to check again, but cannot open the file.. At this point I am just putting the three textures I wanted to use on my blog and the fraps shots than I have already taken.. Hopefully I can work it out in the labs tomorrow morning..
Although the light texture may look a little dark, it is the amount of white space I feel stands out.. This one was different to all my other light ones, and I thought it had a special quality about that difference in placement of light rather than gradient of tone.

Sketches of Ideas

On the left is Jane Goodall's space, the meeting space in the centre and Stephen Hawking's space on the right. I placed Hawking's lab outside because he relates strongly to the universe and its existence.. Thus his lab exists in the void space.. Although Jane Goodall is connected with nature, she is also connected with humankind in hoping for unity and harmony to make change within nature. So, her lab is in the solid space, an idea of all of humanity being closed up and closed in, and in need of much further change for harmony and unity..
Here is a simple little sketch of my ideas of each clients space and the meeting space.

Ramps

Thinking logistically, Stephen Hawking's space needs to have a ramp that allows for movement of a wheelchair. I have therefore added side walls to the main ramp to access his space to add to its style and distinction and want to continue the multiple cube idea so must do this on the side of the ramp as otherwise, it would be difficult for a wheelchair. I could do this in Jane Goodall's space, however, I feel it would convey my thoughts more if it were outside, not in the solid space..

Ramps are not necessarily the conventional inclined plane, rather, a ramp is a way of moving from one place to another.. It can act like a 'machine' or can be a simple thoroughfare..

At this point I am thinking of having a few levels in Stephen Hawking's space, with a ramp spiralling around to the top..

Skate ramps come in all different sizes and shapes and inclines:

Ramps can spiral around like this one at the Guggenheim museum, NY:
